Data-driven Assessments

Adapting and personalizing our platform’s content to each unique user’s interactions.

Using AI as a tool in education…

  • Intertwined uses advancements in artificial intelligence technology to not only help us write the curriculum and knowledge assessment content but also use its text phrasing capabilities to restructure our content in response to a unique student’s interactions with our platform.

  • Within every unit is a set of lessons. Each lesson has a subset of sections. Our team acknowledges that financial literacy topics build on top of each other, so to ensure that students build the foundation necessary, we require that within any given unit, students must complete lessons in sequential order.

To check mastery of lessons, students are assessed an adaptive quiz over four key concepts covered in that particular lesson. Each concept is represented by one question, totaling four questions for each adaptive assessment.

If a student answers Question 1 correctly, then the student moves on to Question 2 and so forth. However, if the student answers Question 1 incorrectly, the Intertwined platform uses our AI to reword/rephrase that question and corresponding answer choices in a manner that the student may better understand.

If the student continues to answer incorrectly, our AI continues to restructure the content until the student answers correctly, proving mastery over the topic. Only then, the student may advance to the next question.

  • A student is given the following question and answer choices:

What's the significance of having savings?

    A. They're a safety net and assist in realizing objectives. (correct answer)

    B. They're designated for dicey ventures.

    C. They don't carry any weight in financial planning.

    D. They solely exist for crises.

The student then answers this question incorrectly, instead picking an answer choice other than A. Instead of moving on to the next question, Intertwined’s AI restructures the question and corresponding answer choices in a different manner - still covering the same topic of savings.

    Why are savings important?

    A. They provide financial security and help achieve goals. (correct answer)

    B. They're used for risky investments.

    C. They're not important at all.

    D. They're only for emergencies.

The correct answer choice will not always be “A,” but this rewording process continues until the question is answered correctly.

We do this to properly ensure that the student develops the foundation necessary before advancing in the curriculum.

  • Intertwined sends a request to an Application Programming Interface (API) code with the text we want to reword.

    • The API processes the request and generates a paraphrased version of the text. The API returns the paraphrased text to Intertwined’s platform.

    • Intertwined uses this reworded text in their application or project as needed.

    • The API may offer different levels of regenerating phrases, allowing Intertwined to best optimize our platform to each unique student.

    • The API may also allows Intertwined to specify the target language and exclude specific words or phrases from the paraphrasing process.

    • The API may use natural language processing (NLP) techniques to generate the paraphrased text, such as identifying the main ideas and concepts in the original text and rephrasing them in a different way.

    • The API may also use machine learning algorithms to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of the rewording process over time.

  • Yes! We conducted extensive testing in early 2023, and since then, our teachers and students love it!

We provide teachers with comprehensive data regarding their students’ performance:

    • which question topics are being answered incorrectly

    • the specific wording and phrasing that students are answering correctly and incorrectly

    • how far a student has advanced in the curriculum (number of lessons completed) in any given unit
